Go Back to Remembrances
The year I was general manager at KCPR, Frank was my guardian angel. I’m not really sure what his job was that year at Cal Poly, but he was always around when I needed him. Sometimes it was great technical advice, more often he was just there to talk me through whatever problem I was facing. His calm style made everything seem so much easier to understand and solve.
While I have many great memories about Frank, my favorite is the pickup truck. He’d bought it to haul equipment to some trade show. It was a piece of junk, but it was still cheaper than renting a u-haul. Once the show was over, the pickup became the communal truck. Anyone who needed to haul something just called Frank. I remember laying under the truck and having to kick the transmission back into gear. I’m sure it must have simply died on the road one day.
Frank never hesitated to say “take the truck”. He never hesitated whenever anyone asked, “can you help me…” He was a wonderful man and a great friend.
